Sitting in a room overlooking Oakland, Panama’s ambassador to the United States expressed gratitude and surprise Saturday that steps are being taken to resolve the ongoing conflict regarding control of the Panama Canal.
José Miguel Alemán Healy, during a question-and-answer discussion at the Latin American Cultural Center, told a group of business owners, trade officials and residents he was “relieved” to see that an American consortium was purchasing the controlling stake of two canal ports.
